This article aims to shed light on the representational accentuation of the Roman emperors Balbinus and Pupienus. For this purpose, the focus is on the antoniniani with the dextrarum iunctio motif minted by both emperors as well as on the portrait busts of both rulers. Foremost in the article is the question of the extent to which Roman republican elements can be identified in the coinage, but above all in the portrait design of both rulers.
