Learning from Nature: Heterocycle of the Month

Natural products are a virtually inexhaustible reservoir of fascinating compounds. The Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry is launching an entertaining series as part of its monthly Natural Products Chemistry Focus: the “Heterocycle of the Month.”
As scientists passionate about natural products, we are constantly amazed and fascinated by what nature can synthesize. In particular, we find unusual heterocycles that never fail to inspire reflection. So starting now: Discover the Heterocycle of the Month; you’ll find the current poster outside Room A 120.228.
And if you’ve found an exciting heterocycle yourself (whether isolated by you or found in the literature), send it to us—it will certainly be published as the Heterocycle of the Month (homocycles may also be considered with appropriate justification).
Target audience: Students, scientists, and anyone who enjoys heterocycles (citizen science)
Learning objective: Enjoyment of working with nature, natural product chemistry, and a deeper understanding of biosynthetic relationships
