German-African project 2026 – 2028 on careers and startup education in the university system

With Erasmus+ funding from the European Union, the Career Services and Startup Centres from six universities in Africa and Germany cooperate in the period from 2026 – 2028. The following universites are participating:
- University of Münster (Germany)
- Ashesi University (Ghana)
- University of Ghana (Ghana)
- United States International University-Africa (Kenya)
- Kepler College (Rwanda)
- American University in Cairo (Egypt).
The primary aim of the project is to enable students at the participating universities to gain mutual insights into the academic labour markets, into startup founding, into culture and the social situation of the countries represented and into everyday life in Africa and Europe. They will gain intercultural experience, can prepare themselves for a globalised working life and can explore individual, international career prospects. The project aims to build expertise and knowledge among students and university staff at the participating institutions, and to develop a current and realistic picture of developments and prospects in Europe and Africa.
These processes will be facilitated through the following formats and activities:
- Exchange of expertise among university staff on the topics of careers education and startup founding
- Online seminars and online case study workshops in which students from the participating universities work together on practical tasks within an intercultural context and jointly present solutions
- Face-to-face seminars offered by African university staff from the Career Services and startup facilities at the University of Münster and by representatives of the University of Münster at the African partner universities (possibly hybrid, to enable students from all participating universities to take part).
- Pre-scheduled online advisory slots on career guidance, the labour market, internships, startup topics, job application techniques, etc. (e.g. one slot per month per university)
- Support with research into country-specific market opportunities for products and services from university start-ups
