Since November 2023, the University of Münster has been a member of Ulysseus, one of currently 73 European University Alliances (as of October 2026) funded by the European Commission and the EU within the framework of Erasmus+. The Ulysseus community consists of eight alliance partners:

The Careers Service of the University of Münster cooperates with all Ulysseus partner universities as part of the “Ulysseus Setting Sails” project. This project is part of the national support programme “European University Networks (EUN)” and is funded for the period 2024–2027 by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The main objectives of the Careers Service’s participation in Ulysseus Setting Sails are to promote networking among the Careers Services of the partner universities in Ulysseus, to facilitate the career orientation of students and graduates, and to support the development of cross-disciplinary competencies. These objectives are pursued through the following activities:

  • Networking among the Careers Services in Ulysseus: The Careers Service of the University of Münster leads the Ulysseus Career Development Group, fostering networking and cooperation in Careers Education across partner universities. This is achieved through an on-site kick-off meeting in Münster and recurring online meetings focused on exchanging practices in Careers Education, such as co-creating joint digital offers for students.
  • Careers Education – Co-creation of joint digital offers: Three online courses on career development and lifelong learning will be developed in English. The first, “Applying for Jobs and Internships in Ulysseus Countries,” was released in September 2026. It was designed to provide students with the strategies they need to improve their chances of getting a job or an internship in one of the countries where the network partner universities are located (Germany, Austria, Slovakia, France, Spain, Finland, Montenegro and Italy). More information about this course and registration instructions can be found on our Infoportal on the Careers Service website.
  • Support for students at the Ulysseus partner universities with labour market and internship guidance: All students from the participating universities can contact the Careers Service colleagues in the Ulysseus Career Development Group via the forum of the online course “Applying for Jobs and Internships in Ulysseus Countries” with questions before, during, and after applying for jobs or internships in any of the Ulysseus partner countries: Spain, France, Italy, Slovakia, Austria, Finland, Germany, and Montenegro.
