Since 1965, the Archaeological Museum has owned plaster casts of the pediment sculptures from the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, making it the only German museum that can display both pediments. Due to their size, the casts from Olympia, like most of the other pieces in the cast collection, cannot be displayed in the museum. The original pediment figures can be found in the Archaeological Museum in Olympia.

A storage facility in Mecklenbeck was recently prepared for the collection, where the pediment figures can be displayed in their entirety for the first time. In addition to the casts, the museum also has a model of the entire sanctuary at Olympia. The 28 figures are accessible to students as part of courses. There are plans to open the collection to the general public on selected dates.
