Legal basis for University inventions

With the amendment of the Employee Inventions Act (ArbnErfG) [de] in 2002 and the abolition of the university instructor privilege, all inventions by employees of the University of Münster, regardless of whether they are the result of official work, secondary employment or third-party funded projects, must be reported to the employer in writing – before the invention is publicised.
If the employer lays claim to an invention, the inventor is entitled to 30% of the gross proceeds resulting from its exploitation.
