Habeas Corpus – 2019 Winter

A play by Alan Bennett.

The Play

Back in 1987 – together with the Trinity and All Saints College drama group – the EDG performed Alan Bennett’s maniacally funny farce about a family in Hove that is well-immersed in the so-called “permissive society”. Now the EDG has decided to revive this hilarious play for a new generation of theatre-goers. Besides its legal definition, ‘Habeas Corpus’ could mean “you have the body” or “you’re welcome to it”. In this unique comedy Bennett has created a cornucopia of odd characters who are overtly interested in the “corpus” (particularly breasts!) in one way or another.
