"Vom Dialog zum Doing? Öffentliche Räume im Fokus der Interessen Vieler"

Städte werden zukünftig weltweit nicht nur größer, sondern vor allem auch dichter. Wir werden also in den nächsten Jahrzehnten damit beschäftigt sein, Stadtverdichtung an Lebensqualität zu messen: Wieviel und welches Grün brauchen wir? Wie wollen wir wohnen? Wollen wir Kunst auf öffentlichen Plätzen? Bürgerinnen und Bürger wollen Entscheidungen, die an Flächenkonkurrenzen gebunden sind, nicht mehr top down verordnet bekommen, sondern mitdiskutieren. Das City Science Lab der HafenCity Universität entwickelt digitale interaktive City Scopes, an denen Bürgerbeteiligung durchgeführt wird. Ich berichte am Beispiel des City Scopes Finding Places – Hamburg sucht Flächen für Flüchtlingsunterkünfte - über die Erfahrungen und aktuellen Diskussionen beim Einsatz dieses Tools mit Bezug auf eine politisch aufgeladene Debatte.

Not only will the world’s cities become larger in the future, but also far more crowded. In the coming decades, we will be busy measuring the correlation between urban density and the quality of life. How much and what type of nature do we need in our living environment? How do we want to live? Do we want artworks in public spaces? Citizens are increasingly refusing to have decisions on the use of urban space dictated to them from the “top down”, but rather are demanding to have a say in such decisions. The City Science Lab at the HafenCity University Hamburg is currently developing digital interactive “CityScopes” at which civic participation can take place. Based on the example of the CityScope project “FindingPlaces – Urban model to identify areas for refugee accommodation in Hamburg”, I will present the experiences and current discussions regarding the use of this tool in reference to a politically charged debate.
