Netiquette policy

We would like to use this Internet presence as a medium for discussion and communication concerning the University's relationship with its namesake Wilhelm II. We welcome opinions and constructive criticism, but ask that contributions be objective and constructive in their expression and formulation.

This communication platform is provided by Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU). There is no entitlement to the publication or retention of comments. At present, it is not technically possible for us to publish comments without first obtaining prior approval. We are working on a solution.

We reserve the right to remove comments that violate these rules of netiquette and to exclude users from the discussion in the event of repeated and/or serious violations. Criminally relevant contributions will be reported to the police.

By publishing contributions on this site, users agree to our rules/netiquette policy.

Rules for discussion and contributions on this site

We value an open and respectful exchange. We do not tolerate discrimination or defamation of people or groups on the basis of origin, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual identity, gender, physical condition, income or age.

Furthermore, no insulting, defamatory, inflammatory, inciting, pornographic, youth-endangering or criminal statements will be tolerated. Serious cases, such as the advocacy of crimes that have not yet been committed or the threat of serious bodily harm, will be reported to the authorities immediately; in the event of a criminal offence, charges will be filed.

Unprovable theories or allegations and suspicions, especially if they are damaging to business or defamatory, are not welcome on this site. Comments written in the name of third parties will not be posted. If there is a violation of personal rights in the comments, for example by sharing the personal information of third-parties such as addresses, telephone numbers or email addresses, or publishing private correspondence, the corresponding comments will not be posted. We ask that quotations be marked, and that you refrain from submitting texts written by others.

Commercial messages, election or party advertising, as well as calls for demonstrations, petitions and campaigns will lead to the non-publication of the contributions. Links to other websites will be verified and, if necessary, not released. Spam, automatically generated posts or comments that are recognisable as part of a campaign will not be published.

Each user is responsible for his or her own comments. The University of Münster accepts no liability.

By publishing their comments, users grant their consent to having their comments made publicly accessible, and therefore, quotable.
