Unofficial kick-off for the second competition phase of the Excellence Strategy: the Research Profiles Forum provided a space for dialogue on cutting-edge research at the University of Münster

On 21 October 2022, the Rectorate invited all interested members of the WWW to the ‘WWU Forum Research Profiles’ to inform and discuss structure-building cutting-edge research at the University of Münster. The forum, organised by the Future Lab, offered emerging large-scale research networks the opportunity to introduce themselves to the university public. Existing large-scale collaborations were able to present themselves with a poster at the Excellence Research Fair and engage in dialogue and exchange with interested parties in a relaxed atmosphere. Representatives of the two Clusters of Excellence ‘Religion and Politics’ and ‘Mathematics Münster’ also reported on their experiences as structure-forming research networks at the WWU.
The pitch presentations by the project teams behind Agonal Plurality, BIOSTORE and DyICE also marked the unofficial launch of the upcoming competition phase of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments to strengthen top-level university research. The Rector, Prof. Dr Johannes Wessels, and the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Dr Monika Stoll, took the opportunity to introduce the topic of the ‘Excellence Strategy’ and its connection to the profile and potential areas of the EMU.
The call for proposals for the Cluster of Excellence funding line starts in December. In February, the Rectorate will submit a general declaration of intent and thus officially announce the new research projects with which the WWU will enter the competition.
The Future Lab is always available to answer your questions, suggestions and networking requests relating to the Excellence Strategy.
