Members of Ulysseus Partner Universities Visit the University of Münster for BIP on Critical Whiteness in Higher Education
How do structural power dynamics shape university life – and what role does “whiteness” play as a form of social privilege? These are the questions at the heart of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Critical Whiteness: Reflecting on Power and Taking Action in the University Context”, which brings together 24 participants from Ulysseus partner universities from 24 to 28 November.
The programme encourages participants to examine issues of power, privilege and institutional structures through both theoretical lenses and practical engagement. After an online phase in October, where the group explored key conceptual foundations, the in-person sessions at the University of Münster now offer space for interactive workshops, reflective discussions and hands-on activities. The aim is to support participants in developing approaches that promote inclusive and discrimination-sensitive practices within the higher education setting, whether in daily work or at structural levels. The programme is further enriched by perspectives from wider social and professional contexts, including how museums address contested heritage and how start-up cultures design strategies for greater diversity.
Organised by the Zukunftslabor (Future Lab) at the University of Münster, in cooperation with the University of Seville and MCI Management Center Innsbruck, the BIP is open to academic and non-academic staff alike.
