Prof. Dr. Claudia Voelcker-Rehage

Claudia Voelcker-Rehage is a full professor at the Department of Neuromotor Behavior and Exercise at the University of Münster. The aim of her research is to understand the processes and mechanisms of motor function and neurocognition in the context of performance, training and learning. This includes a focus on the interaction between physical and neurocognitive performance, the early detection of cognitive decline, and the effects of physical activity and training on brain, cognition and motor function. Another goal of her research is to link fundamental scientific research with clinical practice, competitive sports and activities of daily living. To achieve this, she follows an interdisciplinary approach and uses a broad spectrum of methods from exercise and training science, neuroscience and psychology. Examples for this include development of ecologically valid paradigms to study multitasking or performance in real-life scenarios (e.g. driving a car, crossing a road), mobility and mental health programs in care settings, and intervention programs focusing on cognitive ageing, brain mechanisms and motor skills.
