Since 1970, the Friday Colloquium provides a forum for academics to exchange views on issues relating to comparative urban history.

Every semester, workshops are organised: on the one hand, under the heading “Young Urban Studies”, they offer early-career researchers the opportunity to present and discuss the findings of their doctoral theses. On the other hand, individual topics of urban history are selected for comparative analysis by experts from related disciplines.

Recordings of the colloquium presentations from the summer term 2021 onwards can be found on the IStG’s YouTube channel.
