Dr Mara Konjer elected to the Presidium of the German Athletics Association

"Faster, more agile, more digital." This was the motto of the 49th Association Day of the German Athletics Federation (DLV), which was held in digital form on Saturday due to the dynamic Corona development. As expected, Jürgen Kessing was confirmed as DLV President for a second term at the virtual meeting.
There were two candidates for the newly created office of Vice-President Sports Development. Dr Mara Konjer from the AB Social Sciences of Sport prevailed with 84 votes, with seven abstentions, ahead of Katrin Heyers (69 votes). This wide-ranging field of activity is about making athletics fit for the future. The area of responsibility forms an interface between the various departments in the DLV. Specifically, it is about grassroots sport, senior sport, the large running area and inclusion.

Due to the restructuring of the federation, there will be a full-time executive board in the DLV in future, consisting of three people. The Presidium will soon function only as a supervisory board. Mara Konjer will thus have a full-time partner in the future. "Of course I have a certain supervisory function vis-à-vis her/him, but first and foremost I see myself as a source of impetus who wants to help shape and accompany developments in athletics scientifically," emphasises the track and field athlete who was active from 1988 to 2007. As a member of LG Ratio Münster, USC Bochum and TV Wattenscheid, she was able to qualify for the finals several times at German youth championships in sprinting.
