In the research platforms, general problems of a conceptual and theoretical nature were discussed, ones which are central to the research programme of SFB 1150. The platforms also serve to provide critical analysis of theories and theoretical traditions in the broad field of the decision sciences, those which are fundamental for SFB 1150 and those from which we distinguish ourselves. The research platforms created ultimately a forum for reflecting on the research results of the subprojects in view of overarching problems and questions. Hence, they played an important role in the development of the research programme of the SFB 1150. There were three research platforms: on decision-making in modernization theories, on decision-making in theories of power and violence, and decision-making in action and social theories of individualism.
