Four Days of European Communication Research in Brno: #ECREA26 Recap
With about a week having passed, we are now looking back on a successful 11th European Communication Conference (ECREA 2026). From 9 to 11 September, communication and media scholars from across Europe gathered in Brno, Czechia, to discuss current research and developments in the field. We were there too - presenting a total of ten studies and, above all, engaging in many inspiring conversations.
The contributions covered a wide range of topics, including health and political communication, crisis communication and digital activism, as well as media policy, journalism, and climate communication. A complete list of our contributions and presentations can be found in this news article. Beyond the presentations themselves, we had the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with colleagues from different countries, meeting both familiar faces and new people who share our enthusiasm for researching similar questions.
A big thank you goes to the local organising team and all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure that the conference ran smoothly. From the catering to the insights into Brno and the city itself, they made sure we felt well looked after both during and beyond the conference programme.
We have captured some moments from ECREA in Brno in our photo gallery.
