A music campus for Münster

In September 2016, Markus Lewe, the then WWU Rector Prof. Dr. Ursula Nelles and the then designated new WWU Rector Johannes Wessels signed a declaration of intent to build a music campus. They named the site of the former WWU Institute of Pharmacy in Hittorfstraße as a possible location, which is only a few hundred meters away from the castle and directly at the Coesfelder Kreuz traffic junction. Linked to this is the offer to all music makers in the city and region to also get involved.

Since the beginning of 2023, the planning process has been accompanied by a music advisory board, which includes representatives of the three so-called anchor users as well as eight representatives of independent musicians in the city of Münster. The latter each represent a cluster of independent musicians. The choirs, orchestras, bands and other music groups on the campus form one of these clusters and have delegated the head of the Central Custody, Eckhard Kluth, to the committee and appointed May Susanne Töpfer, a member of the Young Symphony Orchestra, as a representative.
