Ensemble 22
Ensemble 22 was founded in 1998. Its repertoire ranges from sacred music to classical and Romantic a cappella works and contemporary compositions. Musical highlights to date have included participation in the “Neue Wände” Festival in Münster and the 3rd Choral Festival in Grado, as well as several concert tours—including one to France in 2018 and, most recently, to Italy as part of the “Mysterium Montis” project. In the summer of 2023, Volker Hagemann took over as director of Ensemble 22 and was appointed professor at the University of Church Music in Rottenburg in 2025. As a result, Nils Hientzsch and Henrik Wilkens assumed joint directorship of the ensemble.
