Welcome to the Department of Communication (IfK) at the University of Münster.

The IfK at the University of Münster kicked off the new semester with two high-profile international guests: Mathias Felipe de Lima Santos and Axel Bruns gave lectures at the institute and took part in networking events.

The 71st Annual Conference of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies (DGPuK) will take place in Dortmund from March 18 to 20, 2026. The conference is being hosted by the Institute of Journalism at TU Dortmund University, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

In January, students from the Department of Comunication visited the WDR regional studio in Münster as part of a special tour. There, they gained insights into the editorial processes and production of local television and radio programmes.

How does a modern media company operate today? Thirty-one students from the Department of Communication explored this question during an excursion to NOZ/mh:n Medien. The programme included insights into editorial practice, digital working methods, and group and corporate communication.

Prof. Dr Julia Metag has been elected as a full member of the Commission for Risk Research and Risk Perception of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR). The appointment is valid for the period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029.
