Dual degree programme for incomings from UniTO
In order to complete the dual degree programme at our faculty after you have already spent an ERASMUS+ stay at our university, you must proceed as follows:
I. Application and enrollment
Apply for the Master of German Law (LL.M.) by September 15th for a start in the winter semester or by March 15th for a start in the summer semester. Please note that if you do not have your degree certificate yet, you must submit this certificate. You must then submit your degree certificate to our Student Admissions Office no later than six months after enrollment. On our website you will find further information about the application procedure.
II. Recognition of the work from your Erasmus stay
As soon as you are enrolled at our university as a master student, you can apply for recognition of the work you have done during your Erasmus stay. You can also find a form for this on our website.
III. Master's thesis
The Master's thesis can be written either at the University of Münster after your enrolment or at the University of Torino, so before your enrolment at our university.
1. Writing your Master's thesis at the University of Münster
As soon as your work has been recognized, you can officially register the topic of your master's thesis. You have to discuss this topic with your supervisor beforehand. You can find the corresponding form on the website "Examinations". You will then complete the master's thesis within the designated period of five months and submit it to the SIZ in both written and electronic form (e.g. via e-mail). We will forward the thesis to your supervisor for assessment.
2. Writing your Master's thesis at the Università di Torino
You can also write your Master's thesis at the Università di Torino. In this case, the Master's thesis needs to be comparative in nature and must correspond to the courses completed at the University of Münster. For the recognition of the Master's thesis at the University of Münster after your enrolment in the Master's degree programme ‘German Law’, you must also use the form that you can find on our website "Examinations".
IV. Oral examination
Finally, you must take an oral examination at the university that also supervised your Master's thesis.
1. Oral examination at the Università di Torino
The oral examination can also be taken at the Università di Torino. For the recognition of the oral examination at the University of Münster after your enrolment in the Master's degree programme ‘German Law’, you must also use the form that you can find on our website "Examinations".
2. Oral examination at the University of Münster
After the initial assessment of your master's thesis by your supervisor, the final oral examination can take place. Attention: The second assessment of your master's thesis does not have to be available yet for you to take the oral examination! If you are no longer in Germany at this time, the examination can also be conducted digitally upon request.
V. Certificate and diploma
Upon receipt of the final oral exam protocol and the second asssessment of your master's thesis, we will prepare your final documents (certificate and diploma) and send them to the address you provided us with.
Please note that you must be enrolled at the University of Münster until the completion of your studies (usually achieved with the oral examination). Please note that the semester fee must be paid for each semester in which you are enrolled. For example, if you take the oral exam on October 1, you will still have to pay the semester fee for the entire winter semester.
However, if you stay outside the catchment area of the semester ticket (NRW) for more than 4 months per semester, you can have the partial amount for this refunded upon presentation of an appropriate certificate to the AStA. You can obtain such a certificate at the Study Information Centre (siz@uni-muenster.de).
Please bear in mind that even if you complete both your Master's thesis and your oral examination at the Università di Torino, you will have to apply again to the University of Münster and enrol in the Master's degree programme in order to have your courses from your ERASMUS+ stay, your Master's thesis and your oral examination recognised and to have your certificate and diploma issued.

Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen
Dual degree programme for incomings from RU
To complete the dual degree with our faculty, you must follow these steps:
I. Application and enrollment
Apply for the Master of German Law (LL.M.) by September 15th for a start in the winter semester or by March 15th for a start in the summer semester. A requirement for that is that you have already completed 210 EC in Nijmegen. You can prove this by a Bachelor's degree in law of 180 EC and one semester of study in the Master Dutch Law or International and European Law (30 EC). For this purpose, please submit your Bachelor's degree certificate as well as transcripts of records of your Bachelor's and Master's studies. On our website you can find further information on the application procedure.
II. LL.M. Programme
You will then complete the LL.M. German Law according to the regular requirements, which can be found on the website "programme structure and content".
III. Master's thesis
After completing the "Basismodul", you can officially register the topic of your master's thesis . Under the dual degree agreement, the thesis counts for both your German and Dutch degree and should be on a comparative law topic. The topic must be approved by your respective supervisors at the University of Münster and the RU and will be assessed separately by them when you have completed the thesis within the designated period of five months. It can be written in German or English and should comprise 23,000 - 25,000 words. Please note that you will need to make a request to the University of Münster if you wish to write the paper in English.
IV. Oral examination
The oral examination for your master's thesis will take place at the University of Münster and will be conducted by your supervisor. Your supervisor at the RU can be involved upon request. A further defence of the thesis can take place at the RU.
V. Certificate and Diploma
