General information about MAM

What is an asset?

Many of you will be more familiar with the term “Asset Management” from the field of wealth management or investment. It is also used in document management. In this context, the images and files that are managed are referred to as “assets”.

We therefore use the terms “images, media and files” and “assets” synonymously in the following. In the MAM, you will usually only find the term “asset”.

Categories

If you have selected the “MAM” area in the Imperia main menu and expanded the “MAM” entry in the rubric tree, you will see a division into four categories (rubrics): Audio, Content, Images and Video.

Only certain file types should be uploaded to each category:

  • Images: JPG, TIFF, SVG, PNG, WebP
  • Audio: MP3, WAV
  • Video: MP4
  • Content: Typical document formats such as DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and PDF or file formats that do not fit into the other categories.

Important notes:

Please only publish assets/media that are intended for publication. In addition, special attention must be paid to usage and personal rights when dealing with images, audio and videos!

If there are still legal difficulties with an asset after publication (e.g. in the form of a cease-and-desist letter oder copyright infringement warning letter), as a consequence of which the asset must be deleted, it is not sufficient to only delete the asset from the page / remove it (e.g. by removing the image module or replacing the image). The corresponding asset is then usually still published and accessible from the outside via a URL. Even if you only depublish the asset, there is still a risk that it can be reintegrated. Preferably, delete the affected asset completely from the MAM and the archive. This way, you can be sure that no further violations can occur.

Videos should be available as an mp4 file (MPEG-4 format/ codec h.264). The codec h.265 and the mov format (iPhone) are not yet supported.

View, filter and search

You can customise the columns displayed in the list view with asset properties via the "Columns" button according to your needs.

With "Set filter" you can specifically filter the assets of a category and, for example, only filter the file name for a specific string. Set filters can also be saved and accessed or organised via the button "Filter -> Manage filters".

The search function searches for and finds assets in all categories and subcategories for which you have access rights.
