Contents: The R programming language is used for statistical data analysis and visualization. R and the R Studio development environment are a globally used tool set for statistical analysis and data science. The software is freely available and there are numerous extensions for a wide range of application areas in the form of add-on packages.
The lecture Statistics in R introduces basic topics in statistics using the R programming language. Topics of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics are covered, as well as topics from the field of data science.

- Characteristic values of descriptive statistics and visualization in various graphic and plot formats
- Possibilities of substantiating statements with statistical data
- Introduction to methods of inferential statistics (linear regression, hypothesis tests)
- Processing large and/or unstructured data (data science)
Language: German (material, communication, examination)
Course format: Classroom course with online elements and the opportunity for practical application, written exam as final exam
Target group: Students who want to use R for statistical data analysis and already have programming knowledge in R or another programming language; if no programming knowledge is available, participation is possible if the course “Introduction to programming with R” is taken in parallel.
