Arno R. Holl
Arno Holl is a doctoral candidate and currently writes a dissertaion on „’Su bivir es á la lengua del agua.’ Being Kukama between Negation, Affirmation, and the River World (ca. 1910-2003)” (work title).
He analyzes the history of settlements of the indigenous Kukama in the Peruvian Amazon during the twentieth century. The main body sources used is a collection of oral history gathered and written down by future indigenous teachers in the early 2000s. A special focus lies on the long period of non-identification as Kukama and/or indigenous, and the change in attitude since the 1990s. Another central aspect are the spiritual relationships connecting the Kukama to their territory.
