    Studies

    • Proof of English proficiency is required. For example, via the TOEFL test or (the quickest and easiest option) the DAAD test (which can be taken at the English Department in Münster).
    • Language courses are offered, but there is a fee (learning Dutch is recommended)
    • Course registration is online. Special courses are available for Erasmus students, such as regional studies
    • Exams are usually in the form of final exams (retakes are possible). Supervision in seminars is excellent but also demanding (required homework assignments). Excellent facilities (libraries, computers)
    • In the Master’s program in Spatial Planning, significantly fewer courses are offered in the summer semester than in the winter semester due to the Master’s thesis being written during that time (since it is a 2-year Master’s program)
    • As a Bachelor’s student, you can also take Master’s courses and vice versa (however, some prior knowledge is required in some cases)
    • The academic rigor seems appropriate, and the courses align with those at the University of Münster; you can have courses credited toward your degree

    Life

    • Definetly participate in Orientation Week (meet people, take part in various activities…)

    Other

    • Important: Bring plenty of passport photos (for student IDs, etc.)
  • Further information

Acceptance: Geography and Landscape Ecology students, non-Geoscience students as well

Finances: a bit more expensive than Germany

Accomodation: Dormitories vary in quality. Private apartments are very expensive.

Support from the host university: Excellent! Support from tutors; the International Office is also very helpful and does a great job of coordinating everything.
