Advice from former students
- Lecturers are generally very accommodating; alternative arrangements for examination formats may be possible by prior arrangement
- Example courses (from 2014/15): Eutrophication of Water Bodies, Geology and Climate Change, Stratigraphy and Palaeontology
- A lovely city for Erasmus: small enough that you can easily walk everywhere, yet with a wide range of leisure activities (as it is Estonia’s second-largest city)
- The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is very active, with plenty of events and trips on offer

General information:
- The university expects incoming students to attend the orientation course before the start of the semester.
- Students must register for their final courses within the first two weeks. Further details on registration can be found here [en].
- UT requires international students to enrol in and complete courses worth at least 15 ECTS per semester.
- Before arrival, you will receive (by email) a list of all courses and the languages in which they are taught; you can choose courses from this list (unfortunately, it does not specify whether these courses have specific entry requirements or span several semesters!).
- Language courses in Estonian are offered (starting from A1 level)
Admission:
- no issues; students from other disciplines are also accepted
Popularity:
- although Tartu is a great city for an Erasmus placement, our places there are not yet in high demand. So it’s perfect for those looking for something different and exciting
Support from the host university:
- communication with the Erasmus coordinators there is very good
- the lecturers and professors are friendly and make time for individual students
- ESN is very active
