The History of Form as the History of Concepts in Literature and Literary Studies

This focus is centrally concerned with questions such as the following:

  • How do theories of form from different discourses, poetics and literatures relate to each other? What interferences are in evidence, how may they be described, and what are their effects?
  • What can be gained from a diachronic study of theories of form and their respective discursive environments?
  • To what extent are model-theoretical considerations compatible with conventional theories of form and what findings can be derived from possible discrepancies?
