This study examines the Trinitarian theology of the Syriac-Jacobite theologian Abū Rāʾiṭa within 9th-century Arabic-speaking Christianity, in dialogue with the Orthodox tradition. It focuses on the linguistic, symbolic, and argumentative tools he employs to make central tenets of faith – such as the Trinity, hypostasis, and Christology – accessible within an Arab-Islamic context. The aim is not to reconcile denominational differences, but rather to identify convergences, conceptual affinities, and theological boundaries. The work is intended as a contribution to an expanded symbolic theology that systematically incorporates pre-Chalcedonian traditions. In four chapters, it addresses language, Trinitarian doctrine, hypostatic relationships, and natural analogies as means of theological understanding.
