The dissertation examines how Islam is addressed in public schools and municipal childcare centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Based on qualitative case studies, it reveals a high degree of heterogeneity in organizational practices, ranging from minimal adaptivity to one-sided accommodation of specific Muslim actors. Certain practices raise questions about the preservation of secular principles and the conceptualization of diversity. To analyze these dynamics, an organizational sociology-based model was developed under the concept of "spatial and bodily ordering", which structures the habitual interactions through which organizations engage with Muslim presence. The study addresses an empirical research gap regarding religious diversity in public organizations and provides a foundation for analyzing negotiation and integration processes in the context of Muslim presence.
