Winter Semester 2025/26
BIBB Data Report 2025 published – Focus on immigration society
The 17th Data Report from the BIBB brings together analyses on vocational education and training, presents federal and state programs, and provides international indicators and benchmarks. The focus topic for 2025 is “immigration society.”
Chapter C4 highlights access, participation, and integration in continuing vocational education and training. C4.1 (Halit Öztürk & Eva Humt) shows that adult immigrants have less access to continuing vocational education and training, particularly in-company training, due to a combination of individual, social, structural, and legal barriers.

Excursion to the VHS Münster
As part of a seminar on the topic of ‘Educational Justice in Adult Education’, a group of students visited the Volkshochschule Münster (adult education centre) together with Ms Ta.
They were welcomed by Dr Eichler, who not only gave them a tour of the premises, but also provided a comprehensive insight into the diverse range of educational opportunities offered by the Volkshochschule Münster and its organisational background. Together, they reflected on key challenges in planning and managing the programme and discussed approaches for making continuing education accessible to as many people as possible.
At the end of this practice-oriented seminar, the students will have the opportunity to present their own theoretical concepts for further promoting equal educational opportunities at the VHS Münster.

New colleague in the department
We are delighted to welcome Lennart Hempel as a new research assistant in Professor Stanik's working group. After studying in Marburg and Cologne and working at the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) in Bonn, Mr Hempel is now beginning his doctoral studies in the Adult Education/Continuing Education department in Münster.
His research will focus in particular on topics related to political education, organisational research, international education research and developmental pedagogy.
We warmly welcome Mr Hempel and look forward to exciting new perspectives and a successful collaboration!

Successful University Day 2025
What employers are there in the field of adult education/continuing education? What career paths are there in education management, human resources development or consulting? What are the contents of the study programme and seminars in this profile area? What topics does the adult education/continuing education department research?
Prospective students were able to discuss these and other questions with representatives of the Adult Education/Continuing Education profile area at this year's University Day and gain insights into the courses offered, research topics and career prospects in adult education/continuing education.
Twenty-five prospective students took part in the joint information event for the profile areas in the IfE's courses of study and took the opportunity to find out about the possibilities for specialisation in single-subject and double-subject Bachelor's degrees and to talk directly to representatives of the profile areas.
