Scientific Writing for Life Science PhD Students
This intensive, practice-oriented course provides PhD students with the essential skills needed to communicate scientific results clearly, persuasively, and professionally. Through a combination of short lectures, guided analysis of real examples, and hands-on writing exercises, participants will learn how to structure and craft effective scientific texts for different purposes and audiences. Core topics include: writing compelling abstracts, designing clear and logical research papers, formulating strong hypotheses and aims, and developing competitive grant proposals. Special emphasis is placed on narrative coherence, clarity of argumentation, and strategies for revision. By the end of the course, students will have produced and refined their own abstract, strengthened key sections of an ongoing manuscript, and gained practical insights into how reviewers and funding panels read and evaluate scientific writing.
