Prof. Friedemann Kiefer investigates how lymphatic vessels are formed and preserved constantly looking beyond the boundaries of his own field. He recently took up the Professorship for Intravital Molecular Imaging at EIMI. In an interview with the Cells-in-Motion Cluster of Excellence, he provides insights into his research.
Our interdisciplinary team develops imaging methods allowing to visualize molecular processes inside organisms, tissues and cells. With the help of imaging we study vascular, inflammatory, infectious and neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer but also the development of blood and lymphatic vessels.
