Almost all books are freely accessible and shelved according to the classification system of the NLM:
- approx. 50,000 monographs, compendiums, dictionaries
- approx. 15,000 textbooks

Dissertations are not freely accessible and must be ordered. Dissertations and theses database of the Medical Library [de]
E-books
The university network of the University of Münster currently provides about 30,000 books online, including about 10,000 (bio)chemical and (bio)medical monographs and 250 online textbooks.

Learning media
As part of the project named easystudium, the library provides students with digital books and apps, thus creating a complete tablet based learning environment. Students can learn anywhere and at any time, annotate lecture scripts and share them with their fellow students.
