  • Sustainable Event Management

Events such as conferences, symposia, or summer schools, as well as smaller internal meetings and sessions, are a defining feature of everyday university life. In doing so, they not only provide a space for academic exchange and networking, but through their organization and execution, they also contribute to resource consumption and the associated emissions.
At a three-day conference, the average CO₂ emissions per participant range between 0.5 and 1.3 tons. According to IPCC calculations, annual per-capita emissions would need to be reduced to 2.5 tons by 2030 and even to 0.7 tons by 2050 in order to achieve the 1.5-degree target. These connections illustrate that even the planning and execution of events can make a contribution to greater sustainability. This guide supports you in systematically integrating sustainability aspects into the planning, execution, and follow-up of your event.

  • March for Science

Geopolitical changes and rapid technological developments pose new challenges for society and science, but they also entail risks and potential for misuse.
Science and politics must therefore assume joint responsibility and ensure that research is ethically reflected upon and deployed responsibly. The March for Science took place on this subject on May 29, 2026.
The demonstration concluded with a discussion feastering representatives from academia, the AStA (General Students' Committee), and the City of Münster discussed 'Science and Security.' The Rectorate's call for the 'March for Science' is supported by the AStA of the University of Münster, the City of Münster, the City of Münster's Science Office, and the Münster University of Applied Sciences (FH Münster)."
