The Studiobühne is the venue where the research area ‘Stage/Drama/Performance’ within the literature- and theatre-related subjects of the Department of Philology comes to life.

The fact that the University of Münster has its own small theatre is of great value. Research into drama is often approached through the reading of written texts. The Studiobühne, however, enables the specific mediality of theatre texts to be examined on stage not only theoretically but also in a practical context – as a theatrical space, the Studiobühne can initiate and specifically advance research questions concerning, for example, intermediality, choral theatre, representation and perception. This specific interplay between theory and practice, in turn, gives rise to teaching and learning formats for academic instruction, as well as event formats designed to communicate research.
