The Studiobühne aims to be the place where the research field of "stage/drama/performance" within the literature- and theatre-related subjects of the Department of Philology becomes visible.

The fact that the University of Münster has its own small theatre stage is of great value. Research into drama often takes the form of engaging with the written text through reading. The Studiobühne, by contrast, makes it possible to investigate the specific mediality of theatre texts not only theoretically but also in a practice-oriented manner – the theatrical space of the Studiobühne can actively advance research questions concerning, for example, intermediality, chorus theatre, representation, and perception. From this specific interweaving of theory and practice arise, in turn, teaching and learning formats for instruction as well as event formats for science communication.
