WorkExperience
- My original training (BA) was in English literature and later I was trained to be a journalist. I worked as a full-time professional journalist for close to a decade in some of the leading English newspapers and magazines in India. As a journalist I specialised in writing on religious affairs, which was a relatively new field when I started out with my work. I analyzed and conducted extensive interviews with academic experts like theologians and religious scholars on diverse issues related to contemporary Christianity and inter-religous relations. The interest in mass communication continues to be an important element of my work as an academic researcher in two ways. In my research I have focussed on the interface between modern mass media and religions. Further, I am active in publishing in mainstream media and writing - including about the outcomes of my academic research - for a general audience beyond the academy.
