Volume rendering of the absolute value of vorticity in fully developed turbulence. A complex interaction of vortex tubes determines the dynamical evlution of this flow.

To gain a deeper insight into the interaction of these coherent structures, several simulations with isolated coherent structures as initial conditions are performed. The initial vorticity field is set up as a superposition of Burgers vortices.
