First Annual Meeting of the Münster Doctoral School of History (PGM)

On 16 January 2025, the first annual meeting and grand opening of the Münster Doctoral School of History took place. In addition to the general meeting, the day included the presentation of dissertation projects, as classic project presentations and in a ‘speed dating’ format, as well as a networking meeting and offered plenty of opportunity to get to know each other and exchange professional ideas. It was a pleasure to welcome Prof Dr Ewald Frie (Tübingen) for an evening lecture on the topic of ‘Working with History in the 21st Century’.

On Thursday, 16.01.2025, the PGM's first annual meeting will be held.

There will be opportunity to get to know each other, to network and, for the doctoral members, to present their research projects in an informal setting.

VHD panel discussion on working conditions in the historical sciences on 19 June 2023

The recently published proposals of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for a reform of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG) (German Act on Temporary Scientific Contracts) have recently led to a further germination of the debate on working conditions in German science. The Association of Historians in Germany (VHD) is participating as a professional association with proposals in the current debates on improvements to the legal framework conditions of academic career paths and work and, on this occasion, invited to a panel discussion "System change (professionally) just? Career paths and working conditions in the historical sciences". The event can be retraced in the form of audio and video recordings.

Information evening of the PGM on 3 July 2023

On Monday, 3 July 2023, the PGM invites all doctoral students and interested parties to an information evening at which the PGM will introduce itself and there will be room for questions and discussion.

The event will take place in room F234 in the Fürstenberghaus and will start at 6 pm (c.t.). Registration is not required.
