An Online Survey Panel for Firefighters

We are currently working on a survey panel for firefighters. Such a panel is an online portal where people with a fire department background or interest in the topic can register voluntarily and free of charge. They will then receive regular invitations to online surveys, e.g. on the topic of cooperation among firefighters. The panel will have two important functions in the FIRE project:

  1. It allows the targeted addressing of specific groups of people, e.g. all participants of the group leader courses within one year. In this way, even specific research questions can be answered by exactly the right people from the field.
  2. It enables surveys over longer periods of time so that developments can be observed.

Data protection is of great importance. The participation in surveys will be anonymous. User data (e.g. e-mail address) will be stored separately from the information provided in surveys. It will therefore not be possible to assign them. The collected data will be stored on servers of the University of Münster. They will be used exclusively for scientific purposes. Commercial use is excluded. The panel software is developed in-house and is therefore independent of third party providers.

Advantages of the Panel for the Users

  • Users can make their own contribution to evaluation and research and thus to improving the quality of education.
  • In addition to regular surveys on firefighting, the panel offers an insight into the world of psychology, e.g. in the form of psychological self-tests with individual feedback.
  • High data protection standards
