    Studium an der Universität zu Köln und anschließende Tätigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Tübingen. 2011 bis 2016: Promotion an der Universität Duisburg-Essen mit einer empirischen Medienwirkungsstudie zur Nutzung von Online-Games. Seit April 2016: wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Lehr- und Forschungsbereich Online-Kommunikation des IFK (Prof. Dr. Thorsten Quandt). 2016-2019: Post-Doc Researcher in einem von der Daimler und Benz Stiftung geförderten interdisziplinären Forschungsprojekt zu psychosozialen Wirkungen der Internetnutzung. November/Dezember 2018: Visiting Scholar am Center for Avatar Research and Immersive Social Media Applications (CARISMA), Department of Communication, Michigan State University, USA. Seit April 2019: assoziierter Mitarbeiter im Forschungsprojekt Smart for Science, gefördert von Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF). 2018-2022 Vice-Chair und seit Oktober 2022 Chair der Digital Games Research Section in der European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA).
