  • Short CV

Dr. Stephan Oliver Görland is a research associate in the BMBF project hyBit. Here he is investigating the networking of northern German hydrogen actors with a focus on energy communication and platform use. Previously, he was a research associate at the Institute for Media Research at the University of Rostock, at the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research at the Humboldt University of Berlin, and at the University of Bremen: first at the Center for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) and then at the Sustainability Research Center (artec).

His dissertation project, which was awarded summa cum laude, dealt with the experience of time in mobile media use using the example of waiting times. He wrote his dissertation thesis "Media, Time and Acceleration" within the DFG project „mediated time", in which he was also significantly involved in the successful funding. Since 2016 he has also been researching the media usage of refugees in Germany, with a special focus on mobile media.

He studied journalism, political science, psychology and law at the University of Vienna and completed his master's degree with distinction.

Stephan O. Görland is spokesperson for the DGPuK Sociology of Media Communication Specialist Group and an associate member of the Sustainability Research Center (artec) at the University of Bremen and the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research.
