Bernadette Uth elected new spokesperson of the DGPuK Journalism Studies/Journalism Research Section

(30.04.2024) Dr. Bernadette Uth is now part of the new spokesperson team of the Journalism Studies/Journalism Research Section of the German Association for Journalism and Communication Studies (DGPuK). The results of the election for the spokesperson team were announced last week. 91 percent of participants voted for the team of spokespersons. Uth will lead the specialist group together with Dr. Valerie Hase and Prof. Dr. Jonas Schützeneder (Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences).

As a new member of the speaker team, Uth will take on important administrative and organizational tasks within the specialist group - including the management of the specialist group, the administration of the budget, the organization of conferences and the awarding of prizes. She will also contribute to communication within the specialist group as well as the dissemination of information to practitioners and the public.

The Journalism Studies/Journalism Research Section was founded in 1991 and has been dedicated to researching and discussing various aspects of journalism ever since. This includes, for example, academic exchange on journalistic practices and content as well as the structural and social conditions that shape journalism. The aim of the specialist group is to integrate and further develop academic and practical aspects of journalism.

Dr. Bernadette Uth completed her doctorate in 2021 at the Research Training Group "Trust and Communication in a Digitalized World". Since 2022, she has been working in the department of Prof. Dr. Helena Stehle and is habilitating there as part of a BMBF joint project on the topic of "The journalism-audience relationship in the digital age: Between audience engagement and the struggle for journalistic authority". The term of office of the current team of spokespersons for the Journalism Studies/Journalism Research section is two years.
