Prof. Volker Gehrau is the new Managing Director of the Department of Communication

(02.04.2018) Since April 1st 2018, the beginning of the summer semester, the Department of Communication has a new managing director. Prof. Volker Gehrau succeeds Prof. Quandt after his two-year term of office.

With his main areas “Media and Carreer Clans”, “Research of Media Use and Media Effects”, “Media in the Social and societal Context”” and “Media and Public Opinion”, Prof. Volker Gehrau has been researching and teaching at the University of Münster since 2006. From 2008¬ till 2014 he was dean of the Faculty of Educational and Social Sciences, to which also the Department of Communication belongs. Prof. Bernd Blöbaum is the department’s new associate director.
The Department of Communication’s managing directorate is elected every two years by the department’s board. Possible candidate are the professors teaching at the Department of Communication. The managing directorate is responsible for the department’s strategic and financial decisions, chairs the board, directs organizational tasks within the department and represents the Department of Communication externally.
