Research

Prof. Dr. Gernot Sydow conducts research on German and European public law, primarily from a comparative law perspective, as well as on the historical foundations of law. His comparative law research focuses on the constitutional law of the United Kingdom and France. In European law, he focuses primarily on issues of European administrative law. In the field of “Law and Religion” he is particularly interested in questions of freedom of religion and belief and the relationship between state and religious law. His research also addresses the third branch of government and the law governing political parties.
