Spatial and Architectural Cognition/Computation Lab

We study how people perceive, remember, and move through buildings and urban environments, and how new technologies reshape those experiences. Our methods combine virtual reality, eye-tracking, Bayesian statistics, and spatial computation in order to keep experimental setups immersive, realistic, and generalisable.

We want to bring psychological evidence into architectural design. SPARC’s mission is to develop human-centered AI for architecture: computational models, indices, and metrics grounded in psychological evidence and usable in architectural practice. Guided by the principles of use-inspired basic research, we focus on those real-world problems that push the boundaries of existing methods and theories.
