Shared Ground

by Alec Roth

With the choir suite "Shared Ground" by British composer Alec Roth the Ensemble 22 embarks on an exciting journey into the wold of contemporary choir music. The piece premiered in 2006 and consists of six parts in which Roth sets six poems by the Indian poet Vikram Seth to music. Each of the poems in return is based on a poem of the 17th century British poet, George Herbert, which closes the circle between the baroque origin of the poems and the contemporary lyric and music. The result is a fascinating work full of thrilling sounds, rhythms and melodies.
