Kirche und Macht

Abstract

Wie in jeder anderen Institution oder Organisation wird auch in der Kirche Macht ausgeübt. Allerdings
wird dies gern tabuisiert. Macht ist – das ergibt ein Blick in die sozialwissenschaftliche Diskussion – ein
Begriff, der unterschiedlich akzentuiert werden kann. Dies ermöglicht es, die faktische Machtausübung
in der Kirche und deren Legitimation differenziert zu erfassen. Die Tatsache, dass das überkommene
kirchliche Machtsystem in die Legitimationskrise geraten ist, hält dazu an, sich auf einen
Umgang mit der Macht im Sinne Jesu zurückzubesinnen.

As in any other institution, there is a certain use of power within the church. This fact, however, is
often treated as a taboo. Power is – as the discussion in the social sciences proves – a term, which can
be used in several different manners allowing us to differentiate between the (legitimate) uses of
power within the church. The fact that the traditional system of power within the church is currently
in crisis and feels the need for legitimization encourages us to reclaim the use of power in the tradition
of Jesus.
