City of Münster

The historic city of Münster - known for the Westphalian Peace Treaty of 1648 ending the Thirty Years War - is a very young city with one fifth of its population being students. Overall, five institutions of higher education turn the city into a vivid campus, among them the University of Münster (WWU) as one of Germany's top universities.
Münster is also a very green city with many parks and tree-lined avenues and is known as Germany’s bicycle capital.

The city centre with the Prinzipalmarkt, St. Lambert’s Church and the historic Town Hall are ideal places for a stroll. There are also a lot of bars and restaurants here. Wednesdays and Saturdays offer an opportunity to buy fresh local food on the traditional farmers market on Cathedral Square (Domplatz).

Münster’s Lake Aa is near the city centre and an ideal place for taking a walk, jogging or sailing. Münster’s harbour area with its bars and leisure facilities is also a favourite meeting place. A detour to the Kreativkai, Münster’s nightlife boulevard at the city harbour, is not only to be recommended on warm summer evenings.

In Münster you will find an exciting combination of acdemia, art, culture and leisure.

When travel will be possible again, come, visit and enjoy Münster!
