Dr. Tomohiko Tatsumi studied at the University of Tokyo, beginning with the College of Arts and Sciences from 2005 to 2007. He then completed a Bachelor of Law and Politics (2007–2009) and an LL.M. (2009–2011) at the same university, where he also earned his doctorate (Dr. iur.) in 2017.

He started his academic career as a Research Assistant at the Graduate School of Law and Politics at the University of Tokyo from 2011 to 2014. He subsequently joined University of Seikei, serving as a Lecturer (2014–2016) and later as an Associate Professor (2016–2021). Between 2017 and 2019, he was a Visiting Researcher at Heidelberg University, where he also taught as a lecturer in the summer semester of 2019. Since 2021, he has been working as an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Law and Politics at the University of Tokyo.
