Assistant Professor of Commercial and Business Law at the University of Zurich

 

Dr. Adrian Künzler is an Assistant Professor of Commercial and Business Law at the University of Zurich and an Affiliate Fellow at the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. He holds a Lic.iur. (2004) and a Dr. iur. (2009) from the University of Zurich, as well as an LL.M. (2011) and a J.S.D. (2015) from Yale Law School.

His research focuses on antitrust, intellectual property, and consumer law, with particular emphasis on the digital economy and the role of law in fostering innovation and economic growth, often incorporating insights from behavioral sciences.

Künzler has held various international academic positions, including visiting professorships at the University of Münster(2019) and the Universidad de San Andrés (2018–2019). He has also been affiliated with institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods, the Engelberg Center at New York University, the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, ETH Zurich, and the European University Institute. In 2023, he served as a visiting fellow at the University of Oxford.

Among his notable works is the book Restoring Consumer Sovereignty – How Markets Manipulate Us and What the Law Can Do About It (2017), which explores the legal challenges of the digital economy and their impact on consumer decision-making.
