The special exhibition "Global Bible. Legacies of (post)colonial Bible translations in the Arctic, Oceania and West Africa," on display at the Bible Museum from 10 October 2025 to 1 March 2026, showed the historical processes, actors and networks that drove the translation and dissemination of the Bible into various indigenous languages during the increasing Western expansion. Until now, this complex process, which varied depending on the region and context, has been described as originating solely from Europeans. The three-year international research project ‘GloBil’ at the University of Münster, on which the exhibition was based, focused for the first time on the indispensable contributions of indigenous translators to the success of the missionaries' Bible translation projects.

The body has always been part of the practices and ideas of religions worldwide. This was demonstrated by the exhibition ‘Body. Cult. Religion. Perspectives from Antiquity to the Present’ organised by the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics” at the University of Münster. It was on display from 25 October 2024 to 26 February 2025 in the Archaeological Museum and the Bible Museum at the University of Münster and was part of the interdisciplinary themed year 2024/25 ‘Body and Religion’ at the Cluster of Excellence.

The New Testament is the foundation of the faith of around 2.5 billion people. This makes Christianity the largest faith community of all. However, the text of the Bible has changed again and again over the course of two millennia. The Institute for New Testament Textual Research (INTF) at the University of Münster has been endeavouring for 65 years to reconstruct the original Greek text and thus create a reliable basis for faith, research and education. Its critical editions of the "Nestle-Aland" and the "Greek New Testament", based on the "Editio Critica Maior", are the interdenominational foundation for Bible translations worldwide.

The INTF is financially supported by the Hermann Kunst Foundation, which was established 60 years ago. And there is a third anniversary to celebrate this year: The Bible Museum at the University of Münster was opened 45 years ago. It tells the story of the Bible - from its manuscript beginnings to the present day. These three anniversaries will be celebrated from 21 May to 29 September with the special exhibition "Critical Analysis of Sacred Texts" at the Bible Museum.
